Md. Abu Sufian Akhand is a seasoned IT professional with over 30 years of experience in the insurance sector. He began his career in 1991 with Bangladesh General Insurance Company PLC as Head of IT and joined Pragati Insurance Limited in 2000 as Assistant Manager (Computer). In 2011, he was promoted to Head of IT, a role he served with distinction until 2023. He is currently serving as the Head of MIS at Pragati Insurance Limited.

Mr. Akhand has a strong foundation in information technology, with extensive expertise in Oracle, Visual Basic, FoxPro, SQL Server, MS Word, MS Excel, Office 365, and Social Media tools. Demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning, he recently completed a 9-month “Digital Marketing” course from CodersTrust Bangladesh. His leadership in IT has been instrumental in modernizing business processes and fostering innovation within the organization.

He played a pioneering role in developing the “General Insurance Computer Integrated System (GICIS),” a customized software solution designed for non-life insurance operations. The system was successfully implemented in seven non-life insurance companies, including Pragati Insurance Limited, and remained in active use until 2017. As Deputy CAMLCO, Mr. Akhand represented Pragati Insurance Limited at several CAMLCO Conferences from 2016 to 2021 and continues to attend various industry seminars and professional forums. He is a proud Graduate Member (Gem-553) of the Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) and remains dedicated to advancing digital transformation in the insurance sector.
