Md. Mamunul Hassan, ACII(UK) is an Asst. Managing Director and Head of Branch Control Department of Pragati Insurance PLC. He perused Master of Laws (LL.M) . He has a professional degree, ACII, from Chartered Insurance Institute of England. He has been working for more than 38 years in Non-life Insurance Company. He has worked in various departments in various capacities including Special Underwriting, Micro Insurance and Training. He participated in the Trainings, Seminars and Workshops on Insurance and Re-insurance including Microinsurance, Health Insurance & Weather Based Index Insurance in home and abroad. He is actively involved in developing a new Insurance Product in the name and style “Index Based Flood Insurance” and implemented a Pilot Project in Sirajganj with the collaboration of Oxfam GB, SDC, Swiss Re, IWM and CIRM of India and also actively involved to develop a new Composite Insurance Product (Life and non-life) for the beneficiaries of Micro Finance Institutes (MFIs) with the collaboration of INAFI and BFPB, a subsidiary of UKAID.
He has a publication on Natural Disaster is one of the Emerging Risks of an Insurance Company due to climate Change. He also has a Case Study Pilot Project i.e. Weather Index Based Floor Insurance which is one of the mechanisms to eliminate the moral hazards and improve the livelihood of the Ultra-Poor people in the flood prone areas. He is a regular guest lecturer of Diploma Courses of Bangladesh Insurance Academy and Pragati Training Institute (Inhouse Training Institute). He is a member of CII (UK), Bangladesh Insurance Professional Society, Bangladesh Non-Life Insurance Underwriters Club and Rotary Club of Ahsan Manzil, Dhaka.
